Strippers – A Brief History
If you enjoy watching it and would like to understand everything to know about strippers, you may be interested in its history. Although the term ‘striptease’ dates back to the 1930s, women have been undressing to entertain a lot longer than that. Ancient Sumerian stories and even the Bible suggest that striptease was not uncommon, although it was in 17th century England that the art form really became popular. Paris became the striptease capital of the world in the late 19th century, and the show at the legendary Moulin Rouge was considered scandalous. That same period saw strippers become commonplace in America, often in carnivals or traveling sideshows. The 1960s saw a resurgence of the art form all over the world, and it’s always been with us in one form or another, whether known as striptease, topless dancing, exotic dancing or pole dancing.
