Why do people engage in sexting? Why do they send racy or nude images or videos, as well as texts with sexual content?
Sexting can seem to be a straightforward way to get what you want—or at least try to get what you want—for a short-term hookup. However, sexting is more likely to occur in a committed relationship.
According to some studies, people often participate in sexting after being coerced by romantic partners. As a result, anxiety and concern for what your romantic partner thinks of you may encourage sexting.
