How to Avoid Landfill Waste

Landfills are full of materials that can be recycled or reused. To keep our planet healthy and free from waste, it is important to reduce and avoid landfill waste. Here are a few tips on how you can do your part in avoiding landfill waste:

1. Reduce: Start by reducing the amount of unnecessary items you buy. Reusable containers, durable items and products with minimal packaging are good alternatives for single-use items that often end up in landfills.
2. Reuse: Try to find ways to reuse whatever you buy instead of throwing it away after one use. For example, old clothes can be donated or repurposed into rags for cleaning; glass jars can be used as storage containers; and plastic bags can be reused multiple times before they need to be recycled or thrown away.
3. Recycle: Different types of materials have different recycling processes so make sure you know what goes where when disposing of certain materials such as paper, plastic, metal etc., also never mix recyclables with non-recyclable materials as this often renders an entire batch useless for recycling purposes.
