Create Your Own Tropical Garden

Create Your Own Tropical Garden

You can create a tropical garden in your own yard, so that you can imagine you have gone to a tropical island for a holiday, everyday. Tropical gardens rely more on foliage than flowers and will remain interesting all the year round.

For landscaping tropical garden you must have foliage that is lively and colourful, and choose plants on the size, shape, and texture of their leaves. Tropical plants can have leaves that are red, yellow, purple, pink, and lime green and planting them next to each other will create contrast, drama, and interest. Plant them in groups of odd numbers, five, seven or nine as it makes a huge difference as to how the garden feels with the color and texture.

Flowers like hibiscus, frangipani, ornamental ginger and canna lilies makes for a good contrast when planted in front of the foliage, and before the ground cover. An occasional palm or bamboo tree will accentuate the feeling of being in the tropics. Paths can help to create separate areas and make it easy for watering, something these plants will require in great quantity.
