Product Manager Storytelling To Boost Productivity
The Product Manager in a business environment often requires to be very good at product management and narrative decision-making. Product manager storytelling has to be a ‘good enough’ story to motivate the team and allow for them to build up confidence and momentum to move the project ahead. Product managers are tasked with maintaining the team’s motivation level, which often takes some doing because it’s not very easy to get a group of people to go from being frustrated or unmotivated to being extremely motivated and focused on their work. Product managers are therefore always in an excellent position to instill a culture of success in a team. One of the best ways to do this is through compelling product manager storytelling.
As you can imagine, there are many stories a product manager might want to tell in order to boost team morale or to give them the confidence to take on a particular project. While many team-building exercises involve creating stories and giving out prizes to people in order to increase morale and drive teams forward, the PM needs to choose a story that does a better job at the same time – motivating the team but also providing enough information so that people can understand the big picture.
