What Are Test Management Tools?

Test management refers to all of the practices and procedures that a quality assurance (QA)team uses to manage the testing of software during its development life cycle. Test management tools are applications that help software testers to manage test cases, automated test suites, bug identification and testing project management.

QA teams use a variety of techniques to manage their testing process including storing test requirements, performing user acceptance testing, using buy tracking software and tracking issues and defects. Test management tools are used to help standardize, and in some cases automate, these processes. They enable re-usability of processes between projects, enhance test case visibility, measure testing progress and offer real-time metrics about the level of quality in the application being tested. They serve as the central database for all test assets and their results and include information from all aspects of the testing process – both manual and automated.
