An Overview Of Burton Snowboards
Burton Snowboards is a privately owned company that specializes in designing and manufacturing snowboards and related products. The company was founded in 1977 by Jake Burton Carpenter (also known as Jake Burton) and is now run by his wife after his death in 2019.
The company has become the second-largest manufacturer of snowboards in the United States and its products are also sold worldwide. In 2003 the company’s products became available online; before this, they were only available through local stores. The company also has several sub-brands associated with it that offer products in other niches including Anon Optics (snow goggles and other eye-wear), Analog (snow-related outerwear), and RED (body armor and helmets). In 2005 the company bought four other snowboarding brands (Forum Snowboarding, Foursquare, Special Blend, and Jeenyus) and also owns a surfing products distributor. In 2008 the company also acquired DNA Distribution which included the following skateboard brands: Habitat Skateboards, Alien Workshop, and Reflex.
