What Is ADAS Technology?
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are electronic devices and systems that assist drivers when driving and parking, among other functions. ADAS technology has been shown to increase road safety and helps improve vehicle fuel efficiency among other benefits. These systems use technology such as sensors and cameras to detect nearby obstacles and identify driver errors automatically.
These systems have been developed to help automate and enhance vehicle systems for safety and more efficient operation; they have been proven to reduce road fatalities by helping to avoid collisions. They do this by alerting drivers to potential risks, implementing automated safeguards and even by taking control of the vehicle in extreme situations. The technology that powers ADAS relies on data collected from the environment external to the vehicle in which it is travelling by using imaging, radar sensors, computer vision and through car networking.
